About Cotswold Guitar Services

Cotswold Guitar Services is a small workshop and studio in Oxfordshire, UK, offering guitar and bass setups, refurbishment, maintenance, repairs and fine art instrument photography.

It was established in 2026 by John Brown, a multi award winning natural history cinematographer www.johnbrownimages.co.uk . John is a wildlife film-maker with over 30 years experience in the industry, he has filmed on all seven continents and has contributed sequences to many of the genre’s most iconic series such as Planet Earth, Green Planet, Our Planet and Dynasties, and has been recognised with BAFTA, EMMY and Royal Television Society awards for his work.

In addition to his film-making, guitars and lutherie have been John’s obsession since he took up the instrument aged 14. He spent much of his teenage years helping at Giffin / Q7 Guitars near where he grew up in West London. His passion for guitars has never dwindled and over the last decade he has undertaken a string of increasingly ambitious guitar builds, restorations and repairs.

Cotswold Guitar Services was established to turn this passion, and the skills and knowledge accumulated over the last 40 years of working with guitars, into a small business. Providing the same professionalism and attention to detail to musician’s that has he has bought to his parallel career in film-making.

Cotswold Guitar Services also uniquely offers fine art photography of instruments. We have a fully equipped studio to allow us to produce a portfolio of stunning fine art photographs of your instrument - be it a vintage guitar, or a treasured violin or cello.

We know how strong the emotional bond is between an instrument and its player, and how inherintly beautiful musical instruments are. We will produce an exceptional set of fine art photographs to provide a portrait of your instrument.
