This was bought at auction with various issues; there were cracks on the top and sides, the previous owner had done a very crude installation of a Charlie Christian pickup and the frets needed work to bring the most out of the guitar. See my Case Studies page for the full story
All the structural issues have been addressed; cracks have been glued and pinned with spruce cleats, the mounting holes for the CC pickup have been fitted with spruce dowels and the pickup mounting hole has been rebuilt to the original humbucker size and the pickup has been replaced with a Gibson ‘57 Classic.
Where necessary the guitar has been refinished with nitrocellulose lacquer.

This is a really wonderful instrument - definitely player’s grade in as much as it has had some significant repairs, but, despite baring a few scars, it is a piece of extraordinary guitar building craft. I have taken over a year of obsessive attention to detail to restore this instrument and it is probably playing better now than it has in decades.
